The port has surpassed the previous financial year’s traffic of 36.85 million tonnes, with an impressive cargo growth at 4.77 per cent this year, an official release here said.

The cargoes that contributed to this achievement includes, Coal to NTPL (64.11 %), Wheat (433.61%), Lime Stone(8.37%), Phosphoric Acid(106.42%), Fertilizers (16.07%), Fertilizer Raw Materials(7.18%), Construction Materials (28.75%), and Containerised cargo(5.02%).

The port has also created an achievement in container traffic by handling 613,617 TEUs upto March 17 and crossed the previous financial year’s record traffic of 611,714 TEUs, it said.

In his statement, Chairman of V O C Port Trust, S Anantha Chandra Bose said, “Achieving this record performance would not have been possible without the foresight and commitment of our stakeholders.”
