The new equipment shall be used for SPSP’s container service and shall allow the company to handle in an efficient manner the growing container traffic, which has increased almost threefold since the beginning of this year – up to 11.9 th.TEUs.

Each reach stacker is equipped with the spreader with four clamps and reliable sling locks allowing to hoist the cargo with the weight up to 45 tons. The driver has all the necessary mechanizms at hand to control all the main functions of the vehicle.  SANY is equipped with energy redistribution system which increases its environmental compatibility; with automatic fire extinguishing system of the engine room; anti-rollover system stabilizing the machine during hoisting/lowering of containers, as well as with the unique lighting system improving visibility during operations. The reach stacker boasts multifunctional ergonomic seat providing more comfortable working conditions for dockworkers. Besides, the model made for SPSP implies increased loads during operations.

Delivery to the port of new reach stackers is the next step towards realization of technical equipment modernization programme. So, for instance, in the beginning of the year the company put into operation eight FLTs TCM of 8 tons capacity, grabs and weighing equipment for handling of loose and bulk cargoes, implemented new specialized rigging for gantry cranes. Till the end of this year SPSP plans to purchase no less than 20 units of small, medium and heavy FLTs and tractors.

For your reference:

JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (part of UCL Port, stevedoring division of the international transport group UCL Holding) – the largest operator rendering services on handling of all dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg. It operates modern multi-purpose terminals for general and bulk cargoes as well as specialized terminals for handling of ro-ro cargoes and containers.  In the first half of 2017 the company’s cargo turnover amounted to 3.6 mln tons.
